Find out more about phases

Each OstadElahi inPractice lab consists of a five-phase program.

The visuals reflect the status of each phase:

Each phase is to be completed in a set amount of time. The timing is detailed below. Once you have completed and saved all the required assignments, you can also manually activate the transition to the next phase. Note that you will receive informational messages on a regular basis to help you during the course of your lab.

Phase 1 - Pre-assessment

Each lab will begin with two questionnaires that will enable you to become acquainted with the subject in a simple and concrete manner.

— A quiz will provide you with the opportunity to test your knowledge of a practical aspect of Ostad Elahi’s thought.
— A "self-knowledge" survey will allow you to make a preliminary assessment of the way you practice this principle.

This pre-assessment is to be completed in one attempt, and usually takes about 30 to 45 minutes, so be sure to plan accordingly. Once you have completed the two questionnaires, you will be able to look over the questions and your answers again. Your quiz will be graded, but you will not have access to the corrections at this stage! You will be able to retake the quiz in phase 2, at which point you will have as much time as you want to answer the questions.

Timing: you have up to 24 hours to complete phase 1. Once you have saved your questionnaires, you will be able to manually activate the transition to phase 2, or wait for the transition to happen automatically.

Phase 2 - Reflection

During this phase:

— 2 reflection questions will allow you to familiarize yourself with the theme of the lab—both at a theoretical and practical level.
— At this point you will have to retake the quiz from phase 1, but this time you will be able to take all the time that you need to check and improve (if necessary) your original answers. Once you have saved your answers, you will be given a grade out of 100 for your re-taken quiz. You will then have access to the correct answers and to added insights for some of them, as well as to various other resources.

Timing: phase 2 will remain open for up to 7 days. You can take your time to deeply reflect on the questions raised by the theme of this lab. Once you have saved your answers and had a look at the insights and resources, you will be able to manually activate the transition to phase 3, or wait for the transition to happen automatically after 7 days. Please note that the resources will remain accessible to you throughout the entire course of this lab and on your previous labs page upon completion of the lab.

Phase 3 - Diagnosis

In preparation for the action phase:

— A series of questions will take you through setting up an action plan: this will be your self-diagnosis. This process will help you define one or several practical exercises adapted to you. Start with the self-diagnosis and then write down every exercise you have decided on in the table for phase 3. You will be able to modify the headings if it becomes necessary later on.
— A practical exercise should be chosen after due introspection in light of the given theme. It is recommended to consult with those who know you well and whose advice could be constructive for your choice of exercises. Remember that the "Ask a friend" tool is available on the main page of phase 3. This tool allows you to ask someone who knows you well for advice, and even to receive suggestions for exercises you may not have thought about. You will be notified of your friends’ answers by email and will be able to consult them by clicking on "my friends’ suggestions". Please note that this tool will not be available after the completion of phase 3.

Timing: you have up to 14 days to complete phase 3. Once you have saved you answers and chosen your exercises, with or without a friend’s input, you will be able to manually activate the transition to phase 4, or wait for the transition to happen automatically after 14 days.

Phase 4 - Action

In this phase you will start taking action, combining theory and practice:

— For the next 28 days, you will put these exercises into practice.
— During this phase, you will assess your work on a daily or weekly basis. The assessment consists of writing down your successes and failures, accompanied by a qualitative assessment of your efforts. Every assessment can be complemented by your personal comments or experiences recorded and saved in your notepad.
— You will receive a daily reminder email with a link to your assessment table. This daily reminder is activated by default, but you can change its frequency or decide not to receive any reminders at all (see “My preferences” in phase 4). Note that as long as phase 4 has not been completed, you can enter information in your assessment table retroactively.
— The graphs will give you a sense of your progress and allow you to compare your results with that of other users.
— The sharing tool will allow you to share your exercises and experiences with other users anonymously, should you wish to do so.
— Throughout the 4 weeks of phase 3, three checkpoints will provide the opportunity for an interim review.

Timing: phase 4 consists of a 4-week practice + a 3-day “update”: at the end of your 28-day practice, you will have an additional 3 days to make sure that you have accurately filled out your evaluation table, including the information concerning the last days of your practice. Once these three days have passed, you will no longer be able to modify your evaluation table. During this time, you will have the option to manually activate the transition to phase 5, or you can wait for the transition to happen automatically at the end of the 3 days.

Phase 5 - Validation

To conclude this lab, you will review and analyze your own progress and experience:

— You will retake the “self-knowledge” survey, which will allow you to observe the evolution in your answers after the 4-week practice period. As in phase 1, there will be a time-limit to complete this questionnaire.
— A global self-analysis questionnaire will ask you simple questions designed to assess your progress and difficulties, and to increase your self-knowledge. Statistical tools will allow you to compare your answers with those of other users who have also completed this lab.

Timing: you have 7 days to complete this phase. Once you have saved your answers you can manually end phase 5, or wait for the lab to automatically end after 7 days.

Summary

Once phase 5 has ended, you will be directed to a summary page that will give you an overview of all the lab’s activities and results, including all the relevant statistics. You will then have the option to restart the lab from the beginning or from phase 3 (self-diagnosis), or to start any other lab of your choice.
